Wheaton identifies man killed while crossing street

Wheaton police today identified Louis Brian Edison as the pedestrian killed during a Sept. 28 traffic accident.

The 62-year-old Edison was crossing Geneva Road, near Main Street, when he was struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Geneva. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Edison didn't have identification on him at the time of his death. Police used fingerprints to discover his identity and locate next of kin.

Authorities said Edison is originally from Minnesota, but his local whereabouts are unclear.

Wheaton Deputy Police Chief Tom Meloni said the investigation of the accident continues. To date, the cause is unknown. No citations were issued to the driver.

Final autopsy and toxicology results from the DuPage County coroner's office are pending.

Wheaton police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact their traffic unit at (630) 260-2161.
