Briefs: Composters on sale

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County will hold a truckload sale of backyard composters from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Gurnee Toys 'R' Us parking lot at Gurnee Mills on Grand Avenue. The Earth Machine composters will cost $40, including tax. The machine can be used to compost kitchen waste, grass and leaves that can be used in place of chemical fertilizers, top soil and mulch.

Cuba Fall Fest Saturday

Cuba Township is hosting its 7th annual Fall Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Grove, 28160 W. Cuba Road, Barrington. The event will feature food, games and live music. A petting zoo, hayrides and pumpkin painting also are scheduled, and voter registration will be available. Donations of nonperishable food items to the Cuba Township food pantry, as well as check or cash donations to the Cuba Cares Fund, will be collected. Homecoming parade

Grant High School's homecoming parade will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Fox Lake. The parade route will head from the high school parking lot and turn north on Devlin Road. It will turn west along Grand Avenue and follow that course until ending at Fox Lake Towne Center at the corner of Rollins and Grand. The homecoming football game will take place at the school athletic fields after the parade.
