Hester receives more NFL honors

Bears returner Devin Hester was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month for September today.

This is Hester's second NFC Special Teams Player of the Month award in his two-year career (December of 2006).

In the first month of the 2007 season, Hester leads the NFL with 602 combined kick return yards. The University of Miami product leads the NFL with 239 punt return yards, averaging nearly 20 yards per punt return (19.9).

Hester is the only player in league to have returned both a punt and kickoff for touchdowns this season. He is averaging 150.5 kick return yards per game, which currently stands as the second-highest single-season combined kick return average in NFL history, behind Michael Lewis who averaged 152.0 kick return yards per game in 2002 for New Orleans.
