Kids invited to enter poster contest
Grade-school students living in DeKalb, DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties are invited to compete in the "Go With The Flow … Wasting Water is a No!" poster contest, sponsored by the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Authority of Northern Illinois.
This is its 14th annual initiative to encourage water conservation. Entries are welcome from all third- through sixth-grade students.
The grand prize is a $500 U.S. Savings Bond to be awarded for a poster selected from all the entries submitted. That student's school will be awarded a $2,000 CDW gift certificate.
Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each grade level; the winning students will receive U.S. Savings Bonds of $200, $150 and $100, respectively. Honorable mention awards of $75 U.S. Savings Bonds will be made at the judges' discretion.
In addition, schools that have first-, second- or third-place individual winners will receive checks for $100, $50 and $25, respectively, for each winning entry. The deadline is Oct. 10.
Entries may be rendered in any medium; overall size must not exceed 24 by 36 inches. They must be submitted by Oct. 10 at any of the area locations listed below and will become the property of the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Authority. They will be judged for originality, design and theme topic. Each student is allowed only one entry. Winners will be announced by Nov. 16.
