What are results of our spending?

I am looking forward to your series on public school funding.

I agree it is an issue on which we should all be informed.

I hope that as the series progresses, you not only focus on the amount of money that schools are receiving, but the results that these schools achieve with those funds.

The biggest outlying question on public education is whether we are getting what we pay for.

Mind-boggling amounts of money aside, if those funds are helping us to achieve better educated and more well-rounded students, improved student test scores, and higher school ratings against No Child Left Behind, then that money is well spent.

If, as I suspect, our public schools are not able to return our investment, we must do something to drastically change the public school system. Perhaps, dismantling it all together.
