Victim of motorcycle accident identified

Schaumburg police have identified the driver killed in a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon as 28-year-old David Patrick O'Donnell of Villa Park.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office Monday determined O'Donnell's death to be accidental as the result of multiple injuries.

The ongoing police investigation hasn't yet determined the cause of the one-vehicle crash, however.

According to police, O'Donnell was riding his 2002 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle south on West Frontage Road, south of Golf Road, when he rode onto the east shoulder and struck a fence running along Route 53 at 5:09 p.m. Sunday

O'Donnell was the only person on the motorcycle and wasn't wearing a helmet, police said.

West Frontage Road was closed to traffic until 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call their traffic crash reconstruction team at (847) 882-3534.
