Scary Story Writing Contest: Contest forms will be available at the Youth Reference desk beginning today for the library's Scary Story Writing Contest. The contest is open to students in fourth through eighth grade. Stories are due by 8 p.m. Oct. 22. Winners will be announced Oct. 26. The winning stories and storytellers will be honored at the Scary Story program on Oct. 30.
Anime/Gaming Club: The drop-in Anime/Gaming Club for teens will meet from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. For information, contact Israel Mateos at (847) 546-7060, ext. 114.
Trillium performs: The Round Lake Area Public Library invites patrons to drop in to enjoy the musical group, Trillium at 2 p.m. Sunday. Four musicians combine their talents on hammered dulcimer, guitar, banjo, bass, fiddle, mandolin, and vocals to perform an eclectic mix of Celtic, folk, ragtime, and bluegrass music. Immigration seminar: At 6 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Meeting Room, the library will host a drop-in immigration seminar in Spanish by CALMEC Global Law Group, who will present valuable information about the Department of Homeland Security and its supporting agencies. The main topic of discussion will be "Know Your Rights." There will be time for questions and answers during and after the presentation. Programs: Most of the library's Fall programs have filled up. Some space may still be available for the Paws to Read program for ages 6 and up and Monarch Award Storytime for kindergarten through third grade. To check availability, call the Youth Desk at (847) 546-7060, prompt 5.
Coloring Contest: In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, a coloring contest for all children through sixth grade will be held through Oct. 15. Coloring sheets will be available at the Youth Desk. Libraries on the Air: Several Lake County libraries are participating in a radio program on Lake County's WRLR 98.3 FM. The program is scheduled to be broadcast weekly from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays. Anyone interested can also check out the program on live Audio Stream via Windows Media Player by visiting www.wrlr.fm and clicking on the On-Air Audio Stream link.

Free Citizenship Classes: The library hosts weekly classes from 6 to 7:45 p.m. on Tuesdays in the meeting room. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Participants must know basic English.
