Support from all greatly appreciated

Once again, we find ourselves in the fortunate position of thanking a tremendously large number of people for their continuous support of Cody's Canteen. On Sept. 14, the 2nd Annual Cody's Canteen golf outing in Fox Lake was held. Although this started with just a few friends out to play a round of golf and put a few dollars together for a worthy cause, it turned out to be one of the largest golf outings the Make-A-Wish foundation has ever seen. As it turned out, we had 22 foursomes (88 golfers) and 75 hole sponsors.

We would like to thank our major sponsors, including KIS Golf-Gurnee Mills, Comfort Services Inc. and Ray Chevrolet, which donated a one-year lease on a Chevy Avalanche for a hole-in-one. There are too many generous hole sponsors to mention everyone, but to all, "thank you."

To all the volunteers who worked extremely hard to make the day a fun one, "thank you."

A very special thank-you goes to the following: Gino and Joe Petrungaro, and Steve Dau at the Fox Lake Country Club; the staff at Second Federal Savings; Karen Jakstas and the Mineola staff; Mayor Cindy Irwin; Tom Bacino; Don Otway; John Similac; Bo Swayze; and Chrissi Valenziano.

But most of all, to the golfers who braved chilly weather; however, still a beautiful day. (We guess Cody was looking down on us.)

It continues to amaze us how thoughtful and generous everyone is in support of Cody's Canteen. We're sure it will please you to know that we will be able to grant three special wishes through Make-A-Wish.

We are humbled by your continued generosity, and to everyone involved, we would like to say, "thank you." We hope everyone will join the fun next year also.
