Bad sports on the sports page, too

I agree with the editorial, "Change sports culture to avert violence." Sportsmanship is being destroyed.

I would, however, suggest that you look in your own house. Some of the most flagrant demonstrations of poor sportsmanship can be found on the sports page. Sports analysts never give the visiting team credit for a win. Lovie Smith screwed up! Grossman is a jerk! Ossie can't make a good decision! and the list goes on forever. Then, instead of criticizing poor sportsmanship by pros and calling for league action, analysts soft-pedal the issue.

Kids and a lot of "not-too-bright" parents are getting their poor sportsmanship from the media. They yell at their own coach because that's what the media does. They insult players because that's what the media does. Hate behavior may sell newspapers, but is that the way you want to make your profit?
