Elgin drug sweep nets 4 arrests
Four people were accused of buying or selling drugs Thursday in Elgin, police said.
William D. Howard, 22, of 527 Raymond St., Elgin, was charged with the delivery and possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Howard was arrested at 10:30 a.m., accused of selling an undercover detective 2.9 grams of cocaine for $200.
Howard is on parole for delivery of a controlled substance and his bond was set at $7,000.
Freddie C. Smith, 28, of 746 Geneva St., Bolingbrook, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Smith was arrested at 3:45 p.m. after 2.9 grams of cocaine was found, police said.
Smith has three drug convictions and his bond was set at $7,000.
Martin Villagomez, 17, of 1358 Eagle Road, Elgin, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Villagomez, a Central High School student, was arrested at 8:15 p.m. on the 1400 block of Larkin Avenue. He is accused of selling 1.7 grams of cocaine to an undercover officer on Monday for $60 and 4.5 grams of cocaine to the same detective Thursday for $200.
Police said Villagomez is a street gang member and his bond was set at $70,000.
The final drug arrest Thursday was made at 9:30 p.m. when officers stopped John J. Peake's 1999 Ford Contour for no rear registration lights on Elgin's east side, police said.
Police dogs indicated there were drugs in the car and Peake, 40, of 7 Longwood Place, Apt. 3, Elgin, was charged with possession of 0.7 grams of cocaine and possession of a metal smoking pipe, police said.
Peake, who has no previous drug history, has a bond of $500.
Howard, Smith, Villagomez and Peake were taken to the Kane County jail Friday morning.
