Governor isn't good for business

Wall Street Journal, Sept. 10, 2007, page A2: "Drops in Housing, Autos Pinch Midwest".

Further evidence that Gov. Blagojevich is completely misguided in his assault on Illinois business, especially manufacturers who have marketplace issues to contend with and do not need their governor as an additional adversary.

The gross receipts tax scheme would have produced exactly the opposite effect of what Illinois really needs; a solid manufacturing base that adds value to the Illinois economy through jobs that are skills-based and therefore pay well, producing value-added products which in turn support the state.

The governor appears to be headed in exactly the opposite direction, on what would appear to be the path to build a socialist state, with no foundation to support it. Manufacturers/distributors and other business are more than willing to leave, should the governor provide further incentive to do so.
