Carpentersville
• A Carpentersville man was accused of slapping a pregnant woman and pushing her into a deep freezer at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox View Apartment Complex, police said. Derrick L. Gholston, 38, of 1 Middlesex #15, was charged with aggravated battery, domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic battery, police said. Gholston was held in the Kane County jail on $3,000 bond with an Oct. 12 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Elgin
• An Elgin woman accused of trying to cash a check on a closed account Sept. 20 was arrested Tuesday, police said. Jamie Johnson, 19, homeless, was charged with felony forgery, police said. Johnson was held in the Kane County jail on $1,500 bond with an Oct. 11 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• A Lake in the Hills woman was arrested on drug charges Tuesday, police said. Kelly Slaby, 26, of 1212 Pine St., was charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. She also was charged with obstruction of justice after using a false name, police said. Slaby was held in the Elgin lockup on $2,500 bond with an Oct. 4 court date in Elgin.
