Larkin High
• On Friday, the student government will sponsor a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin.
South Elgin High
• On Thursday, the PE leaders class will sponsor a blood drive between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main gym, 760 E. Main St. The community is welcome to participate.
• At 7 p.m. Thursday, representatives from Elgin Community College, Northern Illinois University, Aurora University, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard, and the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters will present a general information seminar on post secondary career and vocational options for students and their families in the auditorium. Specific breakout information sessions will be held on the career technical education curriculum at South Elgin High, the use of career cruising and career assessment tools, the college selection process, and the college application process.
Streamwood High
• On Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Millennium Field, powder puff games will be held to celebrate Homecoming Week. Admission is $2. On Friday, a homecoming assembly will be held at 1:30 p.m. The junior varsity football game will take place at 5:15 p.m. with the varsity game following at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the homecoming dance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the commons area.
Kenyon Woods
• On Wednesday, a seventh-grade dance will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the middle school, 1515 Raymond St., South Elgin.
Centennial
• A walkathon will be held Thursday during the day at the elementary school, 234 E. Stearns Road, Bartlett. In the past, proceeds have been used to purchase educational Internet software and equipment for the students and teachers. For details, call Charlene Hill, PTC president at (630) 213-5632.
Lowrie
• The PTA is hosting a Family Fun Fair including games, food and a "Bake Walk" from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the elementary school, 264 Oak St., Elgin.
Wayne
• On Sunday, the school, 5N433 School St., hosts its annual walkathon from 3 to 6 p.m. Participants will enjoy hotdogs, face painting, balloon making, juggling, a giant slide, obstacle course, bungee run and basketball jam. Families can enter the "Better than Ever Raffle."
In other news
• The South Elgin High School Booster Foundation Wrestling Activity Group is raffling off a 2008 Ford Mustang from Joe Cotton Ford. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 through Oct. 29 from a wrestling booster representative at home football games and booster meetings.
