An advanced case of self-importance
Presuming that the letter signed by Penny Novy, Buffalo Grove (Fence Post, Sept. 6, 2007) is not a put-on, I fail to understand how an alleged adult could so seriously maintain her position of righteous self-importance as to even suggest that elderly or the mom struggling with a couple of kids should pick another time to do their shopping and get out of her way. Imagine, someone inconsiderate enough to block her way down an aisle or bump her shopping cart! Don't they understand just how valuable her time is?
Would it be unkind to suggest that Ms. Novy may be driving that SUV six feet from my back bumper at 60 mph, while talking on her cell phone, checking her makeup and too busy to use her turn signals to signify a change of three lanes before cutting onto the expressway on ramp?
Imagine others' audacity in not acceding to her superior need!
We, the other people, don't need an excuse to go shopping -- or driving -- at a specified time of day. Our justification is simply that we are human beings equally entitled to our own time and space on the surface of the planet.
Maybe Novy should go grocery shopping at 2 a.m. as she suggests.
