Ashford Place now open in South suburbs
Housing choices in the Joliet-Plainfield area have expanded with the grand opening of Ashford Place.
Smykal Associates is developing the community of 93 single-family homes that includes two ranch plans among the seven floor plans.
Homes, ranging from 1,800 to 3,050 square feet and base-priced from $262,600 to $321,100, include two to four bedrooms, two to 2½ baths and basements. Two homes include three-car garages, the other five offer two-car garages with optional extra storage.
Each Ashford Place home also offers customization options. The 3,051-square-foot Stanhope, for example, can feature a sunroom or a first-floor den off of the family room.
Other available custom options at Ashford Place include extending the home's depth by 2 feet, enlarging the garage, selecting a loft in place of a bedroom or adding a bedroom. All plans include an optional deluxe bath with double vanity, soaking tub and separate shower.
"Customers in our other communities have asked to add these amenities," says Peggy Taheri, vice president of sales and marketing for Wheaton-based Smykal Associates. "At Ashford Place, we're taking a pro-active approach, offering the alterations as options."
"With seven plans, we're offering a range of housing to meet many needs," Taheri says. "We have two ranch plans, one with two bedrooms and one with three. These homes will appeal not only to first-time or downsizing buyers but also to people who prefer one-story living."
And each plan offers three to five facades from which to choose, for an architecturally diverse community.
Recently released U.S. Census results show that for the third year in a row, Joliet was the fastest-growing city in Illinois. Ashford Place is within Joliet city limits but carries a mailing address of Plainfield.
Two models are open at Ashford Place.
The 2,412-square-foot Malden as designed includes four bedrooms, 2½ baths, formal living room flowing into a formal dining area; family room and second-floor laundry room. Volume ceilings highlight the foyer and living and dining rooms, and a wall of windows in the family room -- flood the home with natural light.
The model includes the optional 4-foot extension to the family room and dinette as well as the optional 6-foot garage extension. The home is base-priced at $283,200.
The Stanhope is the largest home at Ashford Place and includes four bedrooms, 2½ baths, three-car garage, kitchen with island and lunch bar and living and dining rooms. The model adds the optional sunroom, increasing the size to 3,202 square feet. Base price is $310,800.
Ashford Place homes include 9-foot ceilings on the first floor, basement, pantry, range and dishwasher in kitchens, plus islands or lunch bars (in some plans), ceramic tile floors and steady-temperature shower controls in baths; sodded front and side yards; landscaping package; oak railings on the stairs to the second floor; painted six-panel colonist doors and pine trim.
The community also offers a location near I-55 and Route 59, as well as retail centers.
Models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. To visit Ashford Place, take Route 59 to Caton Farm Road. Drive west on Caton Farm Road about 2.4 miles to Legacy Pointe Boulevard and the community. For information, call (815) 609-5151 or visit www.smykalhomes.com.
