Thanks for story on his granddaughter

As a former resident of Gurnee with a daughter and family in Glen Ellyn and another daughter and family in Carol Stream, I want to thank you for printing a story about my granddaughter Audrey Young, playing tennis with Glenbard West. The picture was wonderful.

I am proud of my daughters, and my wife who worked in health care. I did about everything for 39 years in Illinois. If anyone worked the way that I did, they, too, could reach 80 years old and still be working.

You've always had a great newspaper. We have a local paper in Casa Grande where they print the obituary news on the back of the first page. Strange.

I have spent time writing to anyone and everyone in Washington to re-enact the federal WPA, putting 1 million to 2 million people to work to rebuild New Orleans, Mississippi, bridges, tunnels, damage from tornadoes and hurricanes, Des Plaines River and Ohio River flooding, and more! We have an interstate highway system. We need an interstate civil work force to fan out across the country to rebuild. How do we pay for all this? Simple! Have people invest in state bonds and federal bonds. People invest in foreign securities. Why not invest in their own state and their own country? We have built the Panama Canal and we can't rebuild New Orleans?

That is how small and twisted our thinking has become. Take people off welfare. A town in Mississippi wrote to China, asking them to come and rebuild their town that had been destroyed.

My ideas have hit shredding machines throughout our bureaucracy. They don't care to do their very best!
