No incentive for Craig to cross aisle

Larry Jankowski's cute suggestion, appearing in a recent Daily Herald, that Idaho Sen. Larry Craig join the Democrats shows how little he knows about people like Craig. Craig has served the conservative cause well. Who can forget his shrill diatribe against that "naughty boy," then-President Bill Clinton? Radio and television stations played it over and over again during the Monica hearings, and Republicans could not stop listening to it.

Well, if Sen. Craig joins the Democrats, he will not get any of the perks outgoing conservatives have come to expect from the current administration. You know, like getting the Medal of Freedom from the president (remember when Bush was handing them out like candy at Halloween? Even George Tenet got one in '04.), or a commuted prison sentence from the president (just like "Scooter" Libby in '07), or maybe even, gasp, a complete pardon from the president (to be continued in January 2009).

No, Larry, Sen. Craig has no incentive to flip-flop (he's already done that with his "Guilty! …well maybe I'm not guilty after all") and join the Democrats.

They, unlike those currently in the White House, do not reward disgraced or incompetent cronies.
