See snowmobiles race on water

The RiverBend Snowmobile Watercross will be Sept. 29-30 at Peterson Park, ¾ mile west of Route 31 (Richmond Road) on McCullom Lake Road in McHenry.

Gates open at 9 a.m. Sept. 29 and 10 a.m. Sept. 30. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children ages 12 and younger.

The event consists of oval racing of snowmobiles on water. The preliminary races are Sept. 29 and the finals are Sept. 30.

The afternoon of Sept. 29 will be the annual McHenry Mayor's Miller Lite Cup Challenge Race. This race will put 10 snowmobiles on the water at the same time for 12 laps. Mayor Sue Low will be on hand to present the winner the Challenge Cup Trophy.

On Sept. 30, the McHenry High School Jazz Band perform. The band will be doing a benefit fundraiser concert all afternoon. Proceeds will go toward their spring concert trip to New York.

This family event is fun for all ages. There is a special kids' activity area with activities by The Mega Event, Cliff Hangers rock climbing wall and Rolling Thunder RC racing.

See the World Class Jet Ski Freestyle group perform all weekend. Also participating are local business vendors and new this year is a craft area.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 29, the Knoll at 3018 Hickory Drive in McCullom Lake will host a meet the IWA Professional drivers evening. Get your favorite driver's autograph and take pictures on a real watercross snowmobile.
