Man charged with slapping 10-year-old
A Schaumburg man faces battery charges after police said he slapped a 10-year-old boy in the face.
Fernando G. Medina, 47, of 300 S. Roselle Road, Unit 508, was charged Monday after police said he slapped the boy during a confrontation in the elevator of their apartment building.
According to police, as soon as the boy walked into the apartment building's lobby, Medina began yelling at him to leave his son alone.
Police said the boy got on the elevator and Medina followed. Before the boy could get off the elevator, Medina slapped him in the face, the boy told authorities.
The juvenile did not require medical attention.
Police said Medina told them the boy has been harassing and picking on his son.
Medina was released on $1,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 4.
