Briefs: Algonquin OKs public art

Algonquin OKs public art

Algonquin trustees Tuesday approved a plan for the village's third annual public art display. The program gives local, regional and national artists the opportunity to display work, while also beautifying sites throughout the village. This year's project consist of 41 new pieces, representing all types of media from paintings to outdoor sculptures. One artwork also will carry over from last year's program. This year, the artwork will be installed in 10 indoor locations, including schools, libraries and other public places. Several outdoor sculptures also are featured. Installation will begin in the fall. The village will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 to showcase the artists and their work.
