Prairie Ridge 56, Dundee-Crown 10

The Dundee-Crown Chargers never knew what hit them.

Prairie Ridge, nursing a 22-10 halftime lead, scored 35 unanswered points in the second half and posted a 56-10 victory over D-C in a Fox Valley Conference crossover game at Prairie Ridge Stadium in Crystal Lake Friday night.

"We had some mistakes and penalties in the first half and kept shooting ourselves in the foot," said Prairie Ridge coach Chris Schremp. We wanted to play with more emotion in the second half and cut down on our mistakes. We were able to accomplish those things."

Actually, the Chargers (1-3) had secured the momentum heading into the halftime locker room. With 10.8 seconds left before intermission, Dundee-Crown quarterback Logan Kissack threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Ian Salvatini. Phil Roos' extra point pulled D-C Within 12 points.

But the second half belonged to the Wolves and senior running back Sam Campbell.

The Wolves (4-0) took the opening kickoff and marched 55 yards in 5 plays, capped by a 17-yard scoring run by Campbell.

Cullen Fahey's kick was good and the Wolves led 29-10 with 11:31 left.

The key play of the game came on the ensuing kickoff as Steve Drain recovered a Chargers fumble at the D-C 11-yard line.

After a 9-yard run by Joe Rategan, Campbell scored his third touchdown of the game on a 2-yard run. After Fahey's kick, the Wolves led 36-10 with 10:45 remaining in the third quarter. Those 2 touchdowns within 46 seconds broke the game open.

"We get right back into the game before the half and then they (Prairie Ridge) score two quick ones in the third quarter on us," said Dundee-Crown coach Mike Davis. "We fumbled 3 times on kickoffs tonight. I am very frustrated right now. We are a better team then we showed tonight."

Campbell added two more scores on a 30-yard run and a 25-yard pass from Bryan Bradshaw. The Prairie Ridge senior ended the night with 13 carries for 126 yards and 4 touchdowns. Campbell also caught 2 passes for 47 yards including a scoring pass.

"We knew D-C was a good team and they played a good first half," said Campbell.

"We addressed some things and made some adjustments at halftime and things clicked in the second half. The line was opening some huge holes."

Bradshaw, a junior, threw for 159 yards, completing 7-of-13 passes with 1 interception and a touchdown for PR.
