Shopping at 2 a.m. just might be best

My wife and I are retired and we'll be darned if we are going to let Penny Novy (Fence Post Sept. 6, "Let's Try Shopping in Logical Shifts") tell us when we can and when we cannot go grocery shopping and drive our automobiles.

It appears that Ms. Novy feels her busy schedule is of prime importance and that retirees should adjust their shopping and driving schedules to accommodate this prima donna. She does not want retirees doing grocery shopping on Fridays at 5 p.m., as we clog the aisles and get in her way, and she also does not want retirees driving during rush hour.

Ms. Novy feels that retirees have much more free time, thus we could accomplish our shopping and driving needs so as to not conflict with hers.

We retirees do volunteer work, we are caregivers, we play bingo, we drive school buses, we work at golf courses, we go to casinos, we travel to exotic places, we enjoy friendships, and we too go to school and work full time. And Ms. Novy thinks she has a busy schedule!

Ms. Novy went on to say that she does not want children in the grocery store when she goes shopping, as they too get in her way and are unruly. I would suggest that she not include motherhood in her busy schedule.

As Ms. Novy herself suggested, perhaps it would be best for her to do her grocery shopping at 2 a.m. I feel most certain that the children and retirees would appreciate that.
