Fourth passenger dies
A fourth passenger involved in a car accident near Huntley last weekend died early this morning, Kane County Sheriff's officials said.
Henry Onwualu, 19, of Huntley died at about 3 a.m. at St. Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford, where he had been airlifted in critical condition six days earlier.
The Winnebago Coroner's office will do an autopsy.
The driver of the weekend crash, Mohammed Jaffrie, 24, of Crystal Lake, was last reported to be in critical condition at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. An update on his condition wasn't immediately available.
Jaffrie, Onwualu and three other friends were driving early Saturday morning along Dietrich Road, between Brier Hill Road and Route 20, in a 2003 Infiniti G35 when the car left the road and hit a tree.
Ayush Joshi, 20, of Hoffman Estates and Zohair Husain, 18, of Huntley, both were pronounced dead at the scene. A third friend, Kumail Husain, 20, of Algonquin, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead.
The five young men may have been headed to a truck stop on Route 20 in Hampshire where there is an all-night restaurant.
Blood and urine samples were taken from Jaffrie and sent to the state crime lab to determine if alcohol or drugs were in his system at the time of the crash. The results of those tests were not immediately available but are part of the investigation.
The Kane County Sheriff's Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are still investigating the accident.
