Four-year-old hurt in Glendale Hts.

A 4-year-old girl collided with a car as she ran to catch an ice cream truck but was not seriously injured Thursday afternoon in Glendale Heights.

Sgt. Tony Mineo of the Glendale Heights Police Department said it is unclear if the child ran into the car or if the car struck the girl near the apartment complex at 196 Gladstone Drive.

The car's driver, Jose Arias of Glendale Heights, was ticketed for driving without a license, Mineo said.

Officials said the child did not suffer serious injuries, but her guardian asked that she be taken to Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights as a precaution.

Police also issued a village ordinance citation to the driver of the ice cream truck, Debbie R. Jones of Sugar Grove, for operating without a village permit, Mineo said.
