Civil War buffs can find memorabilia at show

Dressing up for battle reenactments isn't the only way for Civil War buffs to show their spirit.

This Saturday, history aficionados can head to the DuPage County Fairgrounds to find Civil War antiques, books, coins, weapons and more sold by hundreds of dealers from across the country.

Event promoter Bob Zurko said the show is one of the few national events of its kind, and the only one that lands in the Chicago area.

"It's quite a unique show," Zurko said.

The event also will feature American Indian artifacts and memorabilia of the Revolutionary and Spanish American wars.

Visitors also can see live art being created by bronze sculptor Bruce B. Everly Sr. and meet author Richard Bezdck, who has written several books on swords and sword makers.

Zurko said all artifacts for sale at the show are museum quality and appeal to hard-core collectors who visit each year.

"They are real, true history buffs," Zurko said.
