Misleading cartoon about Democrats

The cartoon by LaRay Wright in Sept. 1 Daily Herald implies that Democrats had a prioritized list that gave higher priority to eliminating Rumsfeld, Libby, Rove, Gonzales, Cheney and Bush than to finding and dealing with Osama bin Laden.

The cartoon is not based on fact and, therefore, leaves an erroneous impression.

Rumsfeld and Gonzales proved to be so incompetent that they were embarrassments to the GOP. They left when Republicans called for their resignations.

Rove left when there was nothing more he could do to save W's legacy.

Libby brought himself down by lying to a grand jury to protect his boss and he was prosecuted, not by a Democrat, but by an independent who goes after felons regardless of party.

The fact is, it was George W. Bush and his administration who removed bin Laden's name from the top of a hit list when he veered away from that chase and sent troops into Iraq. At that juncture, the Bush hit list appeared to include: Saddam Hussein, truth, transparency, the Geneva Conventions, habeas corpus, competence, the constitutional separation of powers, the Bill of Rights, decency, compassion, fiscal responsibility, environmental protections,...oh, and bin Laden.
