Lamal serves Meyer, not 19,000 residents

Cary residents' interests would best be served by denying Meyer Material's rezoning request to extend their gravel pits, and not an advantage as Village President Steve Lamal implied by recommending at the last town hall meeting that Meyer "improve" its petition.

How can he defy the obvious wishes of his constituents who have made it abundantly clear in every meeting that we do not want another gravel pit in Cary! Another case of big brother knows best?

In a not-too-subtle and transparently phony attempt to appease Cary residents, Lamal made supposedly stringent and insurmountable options to Meyer. It was purported to sound like a big deal for Cary, but for Meyer, it means only a few more truckloads of gravel to pay for the changes.

The options he proffered are frightening because they would not be difficult for Meyer to accept while pretending to be suffering.

Lamal is effectively cold-shouldering the 19,000 residents of Cary, not simply Fox Trails residents.

Where did you park your conscience, Steve? What part of "no gravel pit" don't you understand?
