Museum offers remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001 attacks
The McHenry County Historical Society Museum, 6422 Main St., Union will be open free to the public from 1 to 4 p.m.
Visitors can take a few moments while visiting to sit and read the local recollections from Sept. 11, 2001 that area residents wrote.
Each year since 2001 the historical society has offered the public an opportunity to add their own recollections on information sheets.
It is from those personal accounts that future historian and family members will turn to in interpreting that horrific event. Even after six years, the majority of us remember numerous details of that September morning.
The historical society will continue to collect and preserve these very personal accounts.
