Health Fair set at The Fountains

The Fountains of Crystal Lake, 965 N. Brighton Circle West, Crystal Lake, will host a Senior Health Fair from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The free event includes blood pressure testing, tetanus shots, cholesterol and blood-sugar testing.

Walk will help local animal shelter

Helping Paws Animal Shelter will hold its eighth annual "Paws in the Park" Walkathon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Acres, one block north of Terra Cotta, Route 176, on Walkup Avenue in Crystal Lake.

Registration forms and pledge sheets can be printed off the Web at www.helpingpaws.net or obtained from the shelter at (815) 338-4400. Pre-registration is $15; at the event is $20.

Walkers without dogs are welcome, too. All proceeds directly benefit the shelter.
