Let's Talk Books: The Warren-Newport Public Library offers book discussion groups under the leadership of librarian Debbie Hoffman. Reservations are required:

• The Saturday fiction group will discuss "Black Swan Green" by David Mitchell at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday.

• The Tuesday non-fiction group will meet at 1:30 p.m. this Tuesday to tackle "The Girls Who Went Away" by Ann Fessler.

Fall Hours: The Warren-Newport Public Library's fall hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday beginning this Sunday.

Democracy at the library: The Warren-Newport Public Library will celebrate freedom with extra voter registration services on Tuesday. While the service is available year round, libraries around the state spotlight voter registration on Sept. 11 to honor the day. By registering early, voters will be prepared for the early General Primary in February.

Teens get connected: Teens in sixth grade and up are invited to the Warren-Newport Public Library for a series of activities:

• The Teen Screen movie club will get together at 4 p.m. Wednesday to enjoy a free showing of "Flushed Away," rated PG.

• The TAG Team teen advisory group will meet at noon Sept. 15.

• Enjoy free pizza and bring tunes to a Teen Music Review at 1 p.m. Sept. 15.

• The next meeting of the Anime Club is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 20.

Film discussion: Head to the Warren-Newport Public Library at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 for a free showing and discussion of "Disturbia," rated PG-13. Hosts Melissa and Don Henderson will lead a talk about this 2007 thriller based on Alfred Hitchcock's classic "Rear Window." Future flicks include "Year of the Dog" on Oct. 26 and "Away from Her" on Nov. 16. These programs are intended for adults and require reservations. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

Preschoolers and Stories: The Warren-Newport Public Library offers preschool storytimes Sept. 17 through Nov. 17. Online registration begins for cardholders at 9 a.m. Saturday, for children ages 2 through pre-kindergarten 5. In addition, drop-in stories for all families are offered at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. Saturdays beginning Sept. 18.

Get organized: Learn organizing tips from Reme Aleck at 7 p.m. Sept. 18. The "Clutter Cutter" will give an overview of the problems of clutter and offer realistic steps to get organized. Reservations are required and space is limited.

Is your child ready to read? Parents, caregivers and preschool teachers are invited to learn about six crucial pre-reading skills at "Every Child Ready to Read" at the Warren-Newport Public Library at 7 p.m. Sept. 19. Adults will receive practical tips for helping children from birth to ages 5 become ready to read. Participants will then be invited to register for special parent-child storytimes that focus on the six skills. Registration and a valid WNPL card are required as space is limited.
