Bears' Okwo out for season
It doesn't appear the Bears' 2007 draft class will make much of an impact this season.
On Tuesday, third-round linebacker Michael Okwo joined second-round defensive end Dan Bazuin on injured reserve, which will keep them sidelined the entire season.
Okwo, the 94th overall selection, suffered a shoulder injury in the final preseason game, while Bazuin (62nd overall) was hobbled by a knee injury.
First-round tight end Greg Olsen suffered a sprained knee in the preseason finale and is expected to miss Sunday's regular-season opener.
To replace Okwo on the roster, the Bears signed free-agent fullback Lousaka Polite, who spent the past three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2004.
The 6-foot, 248-pound Polite, who has been used almost exclusively as a lead blocker, gives the Bears some insurance behind starter Jason McKie, who was the only fullback on the roster.
Backup fullback Obafemi Ayanbadejo is suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's policy on steroids and related substances.
The Bears also added defensive end Copeland Bryan to the practice squad Tuesday. He had been released in the final cutdown and was a member of the Bears' practice squad last season.
