We Survived the Storm Party: The Mount Prospect Historical Society and Bogies Ale House will co-sponsor a "We Survived the Storm Party" from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday at Bogies Ale House, 303 E. Kensington Road, Mount Prospect. A pizza buffet will be available from 6 to 9:30 p.m. for $10, followed by an auction and DJ music until 11:30 p.m. A portion (20%) of your food and drink purchases will benefit Central School project.

Wheeling Jaycees Lobsterfest: Purchase a $21 ticket from the Wheeling Jaycees and enjoy a lobster, shrimp, steak or chicken dinner at Bob Chinn's Crab House in Wheeling, through the end of September. Lobsterfest tickets are available only through the Jaycees and must be ordered in advance. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Wheeling Jaycees. Project Isaiah: The Men's Club of Congregation Beth Judea, Long Grove, will sponsor Project Isaiah for the 11th straight year. Beth Judea congregants will be asked to take home specially marked grocery bags on Rosh Hashana, Sept. 13 and 14, and return them at Kol Nidre Services on Sept. 21, filled with kosher food, paper goods and paper care products. Everything collected will be donated to the ARK, a Chicago social service agency which provides comprehensive services for the homeless and the indigent. The entire community is invited to bring food and paper goods to the synagogue before Sept. 20. Contact the Beth Judea office at (847) 634-0777 if you wish to donate.

Literacy Connection volunteers needed: The Literacy Connection needs volunteer tutors in basic reading and English as a Second Language. A free orientation session for interested parties will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. today, at the Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Road, Hanover Park.
