Chicago man charged with firing gun at Schaumburg home
A Chicago man is being held on $50,000 bond after police said he shot a gun at his girlfriend's home.
William Estrada, 28, of 2057 N. Lorel in Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a weapon after police said he fired six shots at his girlfriend's home early Monday after the two had been in an argument.
According to police, the victim and Estrada were driving home from a bar about 4:45 a.m. Monday when they got into a fight.
During the argument, police said Estrada showed the victim that he had a semi-automatic gun in the backseat of his car.
When the car stopped at a stoplight on Barrington Road, the victim told police she was scared for her safety and jumped out of the car.
A short time later, police said Estrada showed up at the victim's home on the 1500 block of Revere Court where she lives with her father.
Police said the dad confronted Estrada in the backyard after he started throwing rocks at one of the windows.
The dad told Estrada his daughter was not home and to leave, police said.
When the victim arrived home later, police said Estrada again began throwing rocks at a window to get her attention.
According to reports, the victim told Estrada to leave the yard or she would call police.
The victim told police the next thing she heard was several gun shots and then she saw a bullet come through a living room window.
Police, who found six bullet shells at the scene, said Estrada then fled the area. No one was injured during the shooting.
Schaumburg Sgt. John Nebl said police located Estrada a short time later and took him into custody. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28.
