4 hurt in crash at Septemberfest still hospitalized
At least four people who were hit by a vehicle while waiting to watch Schaumburg fireworks Sunday night were still hospitalized Tuesday, officials said.
No charges have been filed from the crash, which is under police investigation, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said late Tuesday.
The vehicle drove off of Plum Grove Road just south of Schaumburg Road around 9:33 p.m. and hit at least two trees in the parkway, as well as several people on the sidewalk waiting for Schaumburg's Septemberfest fireworks, Nebl said.
Police reconstructing the accident are gathering evidence and will be doing a physical examination on the vehicle to see if there were any mechanical failures as part of a long reconstruction process, Nebl said.
Names of the injured or of the driver of the vehicle that crashed are not being released, Nebl said.
Charges, if any, probably wouldn't be filed until next week at the earliest, Nebl said.
