Briefs: Ovation advances epilepsy study

DEERFIELD -- Ovation Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced the initiation of a pivotal Phase III clinical trial evaluating clobazam, a benzodiazapine with significant anticonvulsant properties, as a treatment for patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, one of the most severe forms of childhood epilepsy that frequently persists into adulthood. In previous studies clobazam was shown to be well tolerated in patients with LGS and met the primary endpoint in a Phase II dose range finding study of a significant reduction in drop, or atonic, seizures.

Discover gift cards sold at area malls

RIVERWOODS -- Discover Financial Services announced the availability of Discover gift cards at various General Growth Properties mall locations nationwide, including locally at Northbrook Court, Oakbrook Center and Water Tower Place. The agreement marks the first time Discover gift cards are available in retail locations and able to be purchased by non-Discover card members. This partnership is part of the Discover mall sponsorship that conducts promotions throughout the year at select properties.
