Naperville teen charged after fleeing

A Naperville teen is due in court this month for injuring a Lisle cop in an attempt to flee the scene after he was pulled over, police said.

Jonathan W. Carlson, 17, of 818 S. Loomis St. in Naperville is facing charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, battery and unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, officials said.

His passenger, Matthew Powles, 17, of 524 E. 14th Ave. in Naperville also is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful consumption of alcoholic liquor, officials said.

When a Lisle officer pulled Carlson over during a roadside safety test just before midnight Friday, Carlson drove away from the scene at a high speed while striking the officer in the arm and driving over his foot with the vehicle, police said.

The officer was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville, where he was treated for injuries, officials said.

Carlson posted a $5,000 bond Saturday at the DuPage County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Sept. 24, officials said. Powles posted a $100 bond Saturday, officials said.
