Bears sign seven players to their practice squad
The Bears on Sunday signed seven of the eight practice-squad players they are allowed, with all seven having been waived in the team's final cutdown a day earlier.
Those signed include tackle Antonio Garay and guard Anthony Oakley, who were on last season's Super Bowl roster. Garay, who spent the 2005 season on the Bears' practice squad, played in four games last season, while Oakley, who also spent 2005 on the Bears' practice squad, was active twice in 2006 but never played.
They are joined on this year's practice squad by three rookies: wide receiver David Ball, cornerback Greg Fassitt and tight end Fontel Mines; plus offensive tackle Mark LeVoir and guard Tyler Reed, both of whom spent last season on the practice squad.
The Bears have one remaining spot, which is expected to be filled today.
Running back Jermaine Allen will also be carried on the practice squad as a part of the NFL's International Development Practice Squad Program. As outlined in the program, the London native will not count as one of the eight practice-quad players.
