Mt. Prospect wine store opens

Wine lovers will get a taste of Mount Prospect's new wine shop this Labor Day.

The new Vino 100 wine store will open Monday at the new Shoppes at the Emerson, 110 S. Emerson St. Store hours are noon to 8 p.m.

The Shoppes are on the site of the old village hall at Busse Avenue and Emerson Street. They are part of the ground-level retail component of the new condo development recently opened by Norwood Builders.

Vino 100 bills itself as the country's most successful franchised wine retailer.

"We're very pleased to open our Vino 100 store to serve people in the Northwest suburban area," owner Jennifer Martinez said. "Vino 100 has been highly successful because it helps people make the right choice in selecting quality and affordable wines that they will enjoy."

She said the wines they offer are from around the world, and 100 wines will be available for under $25.

Martinez said Mount Prospect was chosen because it is in the heart of the Northwest suburbs and is convenient.

"It's also an area where people have both sophisticated tastes and are open to new retailing concepts," Martinez said.

A grand opening is tentatively planned for Sept. 14, with special activities for the day and weekend.
