Mount Prospect

• Vandals scratched the hood, trunk lid, and passenger's-side door, punctured three tires, and set the 1973 Pontiac LeMans on fire between 4:30 and 4:53 a.m. Aug. 18 parked in a residential lot on the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive, police said. Mount Prospect firefighters put out the fire, reports added. Damage was estimated at $5,000.

• Vandals cracked a glass panel on the front door at Olympus Gyros, 412 W. Northwest Hwy., between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 4:25 p.m. Aug. 19, police said. Damage was estimated at $500.

Prospect Heights

• A man entered an apartment around 3 a.m. Aug. 18 on the 600 block of Piper Lane while the residents were sleeping, police said. They woke up, heard noises in the living room and went to check, reports added. The invader jumped from the balcony and disappeared, reports said. Nothing appeared to be missing, reports added.

• Burglars smashed the front passenger's-side window and stole a GPS unit between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Aug. 18 out of a 2007 Saturn Vue parked in a hotel lot at 2800 N. Milwaukee Ave., police said. Value was estimated at $600.

• Thieves stole the rear tire and wheel from a mountain bike between 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 4:40 p.m. Aug. 14 locked to a bike rack outside a condominium building on the 800 block of East Old Willow Road, police said. Value was estimated at $50.

• Burglars pulled the front passenger's-side door lock and stole four power tools and a passport between 6 p.m. Aug. 4 and 9 a.m. Aug. 5 out of a 1993 Ford van parked on the 0-100 block of East Old Willow Road, police said. Value was estimated at $1,500.

• Burglars smashed the front driver's-side window and stole a radar detector around 1 a.m. Aug. 15 out of a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer parked on the 800 block of Cider Lane, police said. Value was estimated at $250.

• Burglars smashed the front passenger's-side window and stole a radar detector between 5 p.m. Aug. 19 and 8 a.m. Aug. 20 out of a 2003 BMW parked on the 600 block of Pinecrest Drive, police said. Value was estimated at $350.
