Monday 3

The Last Fling Labor Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Naperville North High School, heads south on Mill Street to Jefferson Avenue, east to Main Street, south to Porter Avenue and west to Naperville Central High School. Florence Henderson sings the national anthem downtown before the parade starts. North Central College coach Al Carius is grand marshal. The Fling Mile race begins at 9:30 a.m. from Naperville North and follows the parade route to Eagle Street, then turns south to the finish line on the bridge. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Cost: $20.

The Cost of Freedom Tribute Traveling Wall is on exhibit Thursday through Sunday at Main Street Park in Lisle. Presented by VFW Post 5696 and the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, the exhibit also honors those who have died in every conflict in which the United States has engaged.
