Trinity Lutheran welcomes associate pastor

On Aug. 19, the Rev. Leslie Williamson of Trinity Lutheran Church, Des Plaines, was installed as an associate pastor by bishop's associate Cynthia Holeman.

Williamson received a master's degree in youth and family ministry from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minn., and served two congregations in Minnesota, as a youth pastor.

Later returning to Luther Seminary, Williamson earned a master of divinity degree and was ordained June 9, by the Rev. Paul R. Landahl, bishop of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

•Longtime Arlington Heights Memorial Library trustee Jan Tucker was chosen to serve as chairman of Friendship Village's 10th annual Sterling Friendship Award Gala being held Sept. 28 at the Stonegate Banquet and Conference Center in Hoffman Estates.

Tucker serves on the board of directors of Friendship Senior Options and on its executive committee. She also holds numerous leadership roles at Friendship Village including chairman of the board of friendship for Friendship Village Neighborhood Services and member of the board of directors of Friendship Senior Service Foundation and Friendship Village of Schaumburg. She also founded the Friends and Family group at Friendship Village.

•Christopher J. Rados, a second-year law student at Valparaiso University, was selected for the Law Review and appointed a teaching assistant in research and writing for freshmen law students.

Rados is a graduate of St. Viator High School, Arlington Heights, and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

•Chef Jack Delby of The Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel earned the 2006 Marriott International Award of Culinary Excellence.

Delby, who manages all endeavors related to catering and restaurants for the hotel, received the award from Marriott International based on his measurable improvement in overall dining; outstanding achievement in culinary excellence; creativity and innovation; training of others; leadership; and personal development.

•Arlington Heights resident, Frank P. Soprano Jr. of Soprano and Associates Ltd., a certified public accounting firm in Arlington Heights, has passed the Enrolled Agent exam and is now licensed to represent clients before the IRS.

As an Enrolled Agent, Soprano is a federally authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxations and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audit, collection and appeals.
