Group to sponsor its annual fun run
Parents & Teens Together will hold its third annual Jonathan Petit 5K Fun Run Sunday at Armstrong Park, 333 Illini Drive, Carol Stream. New Horizons to hold a picnic
New Horizons' Labor Day Weekend Picnic will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herrick Lake Forest Preserve shelter, Herrick Lake and Butterfield roads, Wheaton.
The event includes outdoor games. Those attending should bring a dish to share, a lawn chair and non-alcoholic beverages.
New Horizons is a group of single adults ages 40 and older who seek to develop friendships through social gatherings, community service and special events.

Organ recital to honor Sept. 11
Organist Mark Edward Laubach will present a special organ recital at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at Edman Chapel at Wheaton College, Washington and Franklin, Wheaton.
The concert will feature selections honoring the memory of Sept. 11 and is co-sponsored by the Fox Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Take a trip to the annual spelling bee
The Glen Ellyn Park District is planning a trip to the "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 9. The trip will leave from Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Ave., Glen Ellyn. The fee of $67 includes transportation.
Everyone purchasing a ticket to the event will be entered into a drawing to win two free passes to Choosing the Perfect Holiday Wine, which will be Nov. 9.

Donations sought for Wheaton library sale
The Friends of the Wheaton Public Library are seeking donations of used books, CDs, DVDs, videos and audio books for the book sale Sept. 28-30 at the library, 225 N. Cross St., Wheaton. Annual Market Place to feature antiques
The Carol Stream Historical Society is holding its annual Market Place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Historic Farmhouse on Lies Road, west of Hampe Park, Carol Stream.
The event includes crafters, flea market items, antiques and home-based business vendors. A special children's program is planned.
