Free eye screens in Hampshire

The Hauser-Ross Eye Institute's Screening Team will be conducting a free eye health screening from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 Terwilliger Ave., Hampshire.

The team will check visual acuity and screen for macular degeneration and cataracts. Healthy eyes may be maintained by educating yourself about the warning signs.

No appointment is necessary.

Cary Parks hosts workshop for teens

The Cary Park District will host a free How To Get A Job workshop for students in ninth through 12th grades from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Community Center, 255 Briargate Road.

The program is designed for teens who are interested in working at the pool, camps or ball fields next summer.

The workshop will give helpful hints including how to fill out an application, what to wear to the interview, when to return phone calls, what questions to ask, and more. Specific questions from participants also will be discussed.
