Hoffman Estates

• An in-dash stereo was stolen around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 28 from a 1998 Pontiac parked on the 1700 block of Hassell Road. The stereo was valued at $75.

Schaumburg

• Steven Michael Bernard, 32, whose last known address was 374 Lee Street in Des Plaines, was arrested and charged Aug. 26 with burglary to a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, police said. According to reports, Bernard was seen stealing stereos from two cars on the 200 block of East Golf Road. While in custody, police said they found heroin in his possession, police said. Bernard was being held on $10,000 bond with a Sept. 17 court date.

• A 2001 Toyota Camry was scratched between noon and 7 p.m. Aug. 27 while it was parked on the 600 block of East Higgins Road. The damage was estimated at $500.
