Briefs: Allstate's Liddy joins Boeing board
CHICAGO -- Allstate Corp. Chairman and CEO Edward Liddy has been elected to the Boeing Co. board of directors, the aerospace company said. Liddy, 61, has been chairman of Northbrook-based Allstate since 1999 and was chief executive until December 2006 when he stepped aside for Thomas Wilson. He also is a board director of 3M Co. and The Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

RIVERWOODS -- Discover Financial Services said Thursday that IDG's Computerworld selected it as one of the top workplaces for information technology professionals for the fifth year in a row. Discover ranked 45th on the 2007 Computerworld Best Places to Work in IT list, moving up nine places from last year. Computerworld, which has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals since 1994, based the listings on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits and diversity.
