What represents BG? We've gotten some feedback from some people about what should go into the time capsule the Buffalo Grove 50th anniversary committee is planning for next year.

Howard Schlossberg of Schaumburg said an autographed Los Angeles Dodgers baseball jersey from Mike Marshall, a Buffalo Grove High School graduate, from the season that he represented them in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game is a necessity.

His other suggestion is a team photo autographed by every member of the Buffalo Grove Bruins slow-pitch softball team that won two Amateur Softball Association national championships in the 1970s.

So, do other Buffalo Grove residents have suggestions for the time capsule? Pass them along, and I'll include them here.

The Buffalo Grove 50th anniversary committee is also still working hard to recruit members for the celebration next year.

Anyone interested can attend the committee meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Village Bar and Grill, 48 Raupp Blvd.

Play disc golf: The Buffalo Grove Park District and the Friends of the Parks Foundation will host their third annual Doubles Disc Golf Tournament from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

This year will have a new 9-hole disc golf course at Twin Creeks Park, 401 Aptakisic Road.

Participants will play two rounds of nine holes at Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road, and then two rounds of nine holes at Twin Creeks.

The district will also have lunch between rounds and an awards ceremony.

The district has a limit of 36 teams of two players. The fee is $15 per person, and registration will be on the day of the event at 9:30 a.m. at Willow Stream Park. Participants can also register in advance at bgparkdistrict.org.
