Woman wanted on shaken baby charges
McHenry County authorities issued an arrest warrant today for a 35-year-old Lake in the Hills woman accused of shaking a child so violently on two occasions this year it caused a brain injury and bleeding within the eyes.
Heather C. Kierl, 5534 McKenzie Drive, faces two counts of aggravated battery stemming from incidents occurring April 18 and May 11, according to court documents filed this afternoon.
The age of the child, its gender and its relationship to Kierl were not immediately disclosed. Lake in the Hills police planned to issue a statement on the case later today.
The charges are Class X felonies for which Kierl could face six to 30 years in prison if convicted. Kierl was not yet in custody this afternoon, according to the McHenry County jail.
