Lombard man charged in Glendale Heights gas station robbery

A Lombard man is being held on a $750,000 bond at the DuPage County Jail Wednesday following an armed robbery in Glendale Heights, officials said.

Robert M. Belle, 28, of Lombard faces charges of armed robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Glendale Heights police were called to the Glendale Marathon gas station, 1415 Glen Ellyn Road, police said.

The gas station employee said a man with a handgun entered the gas station and took an undetermined amount of cash out of the register, police said.

The suspect left in a black Dodge with the license plates covered to prevent identification, police said.

Officers arrested Belle, who was driving a black Dodge with the license plates covered, at Glen Ellyn Road and North Avenue Tuesday night, officials said.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24.
