Teen charged in four robberies

A 19-year-old Schaumburg man was charged in connection with four armed robberies in Palatine, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows, police said Monday.

Raymond D. Jacobs, of 2601 Briar Trail, was arrested Friday by Palatine police after an investigation among four police agencies.

Jacobs is charged with an Aug. 19 robbery of Citgo 7-11, 799 W. Route 14, Palatine; an Aug. 20 robbery of White Hen Pantry, 920 W. Bode Road, Schaumburg; an Aug. 21 robbery of 24/7 Pantry, 4025 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows; and an Aug. 23 robbery of 7-11, 4244 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Palatine police said.

Police said Jacobs walked into each of the businesses, brought a low-priced item up to the cash register, and brandished a small, semi-automatic handgun as the clerk opened the drawer.

He grabbed the cash from the drawer while pointing the gun at the clerk, then fled on foot, police said.

Jacobs is being held without bond at the Cook County jail.
