Mundelein teen dies in crash in Wauconda

A 19-year-old Mundelein woman is dead after a crash in Wauconda, officials said Saturday.

Heather Lamarche died after the crash around 9:20 p.m. Friday near Fairfield and Bonner roads, Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said Saturday.

Wauconda Fire Department officials said they tried to get an emergency helicopter to respond to the crash Friday but were told they could not fly, fire officials said Friday.

Officials were unclear on the exact number, but said five or six crash victims were taken by ambulance to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

Lamarche, a 2006 graduate of Mundelein High School, was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where she was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m., Keller said.

An autopsy Saturday showed Lamarche died of head injuries, internal injuries and multiple trauma wounds, Keller said.

Lake County sheriff's office officials declined to release any details about the crash until Monday, citing the pending investigation.

Toxicology report results on Lamarche will be available on Monday, Keller said.
